At HLK, MOVES isn’t just about presentations and panels — it’s about building stronger bonds across the agency and uncovering new ideas and innovation to move our clients and their brands forward. This year, our tech team took that spirit one step further with the Connections App, an experiment designed to make connecting with people more interactive, more fun and more memorable.
Turning Conference Networking Into a Game
The app invited attendees to scan QR codes and reveal surprising facts about their coworkers. From unexpected adventures to hidden talents, each discovery sparked new conversations and reminded us how much there is to learn about the people sitting across the table.
The idea was simple: showcase HLK’s technology capabilities in an unexpected way while giving MOVES attendees a playful way to break the ice. What started as a coding challenge quickly became a conference highlight — proof of how small sparks of creativity can create stronger connections.
Behind the Build
The Connections App was created by Andrew Severs, Megan Hamlin, Chris Vuletich, Mike Pringle, Bob Sherron and Jason Yingling. Leading the coding effort, Andrew ensured the app was ready in time for real-world application at MOVES.
How This Moves Us Forward
What began as a way to spotlight HLK’s tech capabilities became something bigger: a reminder that our greatest asset is each other. By turning simple facts into meaningful conversations, the Connections App brought the spirit of MOVES to life — learning, sharing and connecting in ways that make us stronger together.
And this is just the beginning. The same principles behind the app — using technology to spark interaction and create lasting connections — can evolve into real-world applications for our clients, from reimagined event networking tools to new ways of engaging their customers. It’s a glimpse of how HLK’s tech team is continuously innovating to move people, brands and businesses forward.
